December 22 - Dark side of the moon

Was greeted by a moon sliver over the pines this morning as I stepped out the front door. I probably should have grabbed a tripod and done this properly as I was shooting at 400mm, but tripods are no fun to handle at -17 degrees F. I cranked up the ISO instead to keep the shutter speed quick.

This is not the full frame shot (I cropped it in post).

One benefit of 17 below zero is very clear air for nice crisp shots. Happy first day of winter, indeed.

December 21 - Let's get this party started

Some of the family moms at a big Christmas party, deep into conversation. The food was ready and they were waiting for a few others to show up.
